Ring By Spring

Before coming to Eastern, the phrase "ring by spring" was not something I was familiar with. What that is talking about is the large number of people who get engaged in the springtime thus getting their ring by spring. I haven't seen so much bridal fever in my life! I'm even going to my first Eastern wedding this May. I think it's safe to say that a good majority of the girls on campus have at least dreamt of having that ring that they will have hopefully very soon. I was talking to my roomie about it and we both admitted that we even get sucked up in the drama of wanting a ring that shows the love that your boyfriend has for you stating to the world that he wants to be with you forever. It sounds so romantic.
My roommate and I are 18 and 19 we have no business worrying about being engaged. I'm even more guilty of it than she is because after dating my boyfriend for a few months I started thinking about what would happen if we would spend the rest of our lives together. My boyfriend is absolutely amazing and wonderful and all of those other positive adjectives, but I doubt that I'm going to marry the man.
I'll let you in on a secret my friends; girls aren't the only ones that dream of being engaged. There are guys that are just a eager to find "the one". I guess if you want a MRS. to go with a BA or BS then Eastern is the place for you.

I wonder what the divorce rate for Eastern students is.

Touche

One weekend my roommate went home and I was left alone in my dorm with no one to share a room with. At night time my room gets pretty darn creepy and I'm not always a fan of being alone. So I called up two of my best friends, Sally and Angel, to hang out with me. While the three of us were in my room we discovered that I had chopsticks. Last semester I studied fencing and I put my training to good use. Angel didn't so she was a little, ok really confused. Welcome to Christian school.

Visitation

Visitation hours are the times that people of opposite genders can be in each other's rooms. I absolutely love this time because it's when everyone can just hang out without having a million people around. It's weird talking to my friends from home because each school does it differently and at Eastern you have so many hours each day. I always get a kick out of walking down my boyfriend's floor becasue you can tell who has a girl in the room by who has the door open.

The rules of visitation:
*it's during the allowed hours (if you go when it's not visitation you get fine)
*no hanky pank (the fines are $50 if  you get caught with the door open and $100 is the door is closed)
*the door must be ALL the way open, door stops are provided (again with fines)
*two lights have to be on (The T.V. doens't count)

There are ways to cheat some of these if you want some coupley time. Rearrange you room to make it boyfriend or girlfriend friendly by making you bed or couch not easily seen by the door. Also, turn on two lamps instead of the bright overhead ones. The dark lights also give an indicator that you have a "friend" in the room and someone might not want to enter.
