Every student at Eastern is required to take a gym class. I'm not exactly a sports kind of person so I decided to take fencing. The picture above that I did not ask anyone if I could show is of the girls in my class. We learned two kinds of fencing, European and Japanese Kendo. Basically, if you give me a stick I can beat you up. Welcome to Christian school.
Before attending Eastern University I had an idea of what Christian school would be like. Girls would wear turtle necks and everyone would be carrying Bibles. It took me a very long... five seconds to find out that I was very wrong. This is my life.

Let's Rock This Campus!
Congrats to Hannah, Kaite, Elizabeth, Mike, and all the other people that made it into the student chaplain program! I'm so excited for you and I know that we'll rock this campus for God in the 2010-11 school year. Every one who applied for student chaplain had to answer six scary essay question and go through a group interview. Yesterday everyone found out who made it via campus mail. Kaite and Mike are being so humble about it and not telling anyone that it is such an inspiration... to tell everyone for them. :-)

They must have sodexo stomach
Eastern has a really big rock that different clubs like to paint for special events. The rock is painted white before the club comes and then they have free range of the rock to decorate as they please. I guess plant ops left it white for a little too long because someone went and painted this on the rock. I guess it's an ad for the nurse's office.

Ring By Spring
My roommate and I are 18 and 19 we have no business worrying about being engaged. I'm even more guilty of it than she is because after dating my boyfriend for a few months I started thinking about what would happen if we would spend the rest of our lives together. My boyfriend is absolutely amazing and wonderful and all of those other positive adjectives, but I doubt that I'm going to marry the man.
I'll let you in on a secret my friends; girls aren't the only ones that dream of being engaged. There are guys that are just a eager to find "the one". I guess if you want a MRS. to go with a BA or BS then Eastern is the place for you.
I wonder what the divorce rate for Eastern students is.

Touche
One weekend my roommate went home and I was left alone in my dorm with no one to share a room with. At night time my room gets pretty darn creepy and I'm not always a fan of being alone. So I called up two of my best friends, Sally and Angel, to hang out with me. While the three of us were in my room we discovered that I had chopsticks. Last semester I studied fencing and I put my training to good use. Angel didn't so she was a little, ok really confused. Welcome to Christian school.

Visitation
Visitation hours are the times that people of opposite genders can be in each other's rooms. I absolutely love this time because it's when everyone can just hang out without having a million people around. It's weird talking to my friends from home because each school does it differently and at Eastern you have so many hours each day. I always get a kick out of walking down my boyfriend's floor becasue you can tell who has a girl in the room by who has the door open.
The rules of visitation:
*it's during the allowed hours (if you go when it's not visitation you get fine)
*no hanky pank (the fines are $50 if you get caught with the door open and $100 is the door is closed)
*the door must be ALL the way open, door stops are provided (again with fines)
*two lights have to be on (The T.V. doens't count)
There are ways to cheat some of these if you want some coupley time. Rearrange you room to make it boyfriend or girlfriend friendly by making you bed or couch not easily seen by the door. Also, turn on two lamps instead of the bright overhead ones. The dark lights also give an indicator that you have a "friend" in the room and someone might not want to enter. Reason, Justice... and what was that other one?
Since this is Christian school, many of the people are in fact Christians, so a lot of the time I feel like faith is excpected of us. The school motto is Faith Reason and Justice, but that isn't always the case. One thing that has been keeping me more on track with my walk with God is my friend Renee. Every morning she sends me a Bible verse that always keeps me thinking via text. I don't always have my Bible, but I definitely have my phone.
Congrats on getting a RA position Renee!!!!!!!!!!!!
